Poor little rich girl, haven't you been told?
All that glitters isn't gold.
Riordan and Rosalind Sterling were the proud parents of two sons and one daughter. He was a high profile lawyer, she was an old money socialite. Their world was flawless, perfect in every way...so long as you didn't dig too deeply.
It took Aisley years of therapy to cope with the fact that she hid. When her football playing brother Winston tried to rush the intruders, when her track star brother Gavin attempted to run for help...she hid. Aisley hid in the narrow space of the dumbwaiter, listening as they were murdered. All of them.
But it only took her five minutes with a gun in hand and her Uncle pleading for his life to gain an entirely new perspective. Money did crazy things to people..or maybe crazy people just did dirty shit in the name of money? Facts were simple, every thing she knew was a lie. So she left.
The original board was replaced, those connected to the crimes of fraud, laundering, and murder were held accountable. Through it all she kept hearing the damnedest thing. "You're the lucky one, everything turned out just fine."
Aisley wasn't entirely sure how this was all 'just fine'. But she did know that so many people had it worse, so much worse. So turn up the music, drive a little faster, party a little harder. Live boldly, before it's all gone. All that glitters may not be gold, but enough sparkle distracts those that can't even afford to pay attention.
